Christian education encourages a personal relationship with Jesus Christ while sharing spiritual growth and struggles with other believers.

At Providence Presbyterian Church, our educational ministries seek to nurture Christian life and build a strong community. There are offerings for all ages – from preschool to senior adults.Sunday School

Sunday School is offered each week at Providence at 9:45 AM for all ages.  Other events include Wild Wonderful Wednesday, and a variety of small-group Bible studies.

Nurseries at Providence – Childcare is available for church-related programs. In the Infant class nursery caregivers participate in the nurture of the youngest child by providing a secure and loving environment as a beginning church experience.  The Toddlers enjoy a caring and secure environment provided for self exploration, physical development, exploration of God’s world, and use of the senses. Preschoolers enjoy Bible stories and activities acquainting children with favorite stories on the Old and New Testament, focusing especially on Jesus Christ. All nurseries are staffed by loving parents and volunteers who choose to help our youngest children learn that they are “beloved children of God.”

ChoirThe children of the church (birth through 5th grade) enjoy a variety of age appropriate programs, including Sunday School, Wednesday night programs (Wild Wonderful Wednesdays), and Vacation Bible Study. In addition, “Providence Pals” (children and families) enjoy a monthly field trip to local venues. Children’s worship bulletins are available at each service. Children’s Choir is offered throughout the year, and opportunities to participate in special programs (Christmas, patriotic, etc.). All of these programs work together to provide a comprehensive education program to help nurture faith, Bible knowledge, and participation in service to others.

Providence youth groups (6th – 8th and 9th – 12th grades) provide support to youth as they learn to live a Christian life in a secular world. Confirmation classes are offered to prepare youth for the responsibilities of church membership. Sunday School classes and Wednesday night youth group offer times of study, service and fellowship. Many fun events are offered throughout the year: ski trip, retreats and lock-ins are just a few examples.

There are a variety of Bible study opportunities for adults at Providence. Adult 1 prefers the traditional curriculum, “The Present Word”. The sessions feature the great celebrations of the Christian church, which rehearse the life of Christ and bring to believers the significant events of that life. The Chancel Choir Sunday School Class also studies “The Present Word”.

The Adult II Sunday School class offers a more conversational discussion of Biblical and historical and current topics, often using video curriculums.

A Women’s Sunday School class is also available. This class features an intergenerational group of women discussing faith in their daily lives.
