Hours of Operation

Regular hours for the program are as follows:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Children arrive at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, and need to be picked up by 1:00 p.m. Dismissal begins at 12:45. A late fee of $1.00 will be assessed for every 5 minutes that a parent is late picking up his/her child. This fee will be used to compensate the teacher for having to stay late. Abuse of the stated pickup time could be cause for dismissal.

Children will be dismissed from their rooms only to persons listed on the enrollment form. Exceptions must be submitted to the director in advance through written notification or phone call before 12:45.

*We follow the Anderson One School District schedule for holidays and snow closings.*

**If there is any delay for Anderson One, Providence Preschool and MMO will be closed for the day**

Registration and Fees

To register, a non-refundable registration fee of $45 must be paid and registration information filled out. Enrollment is determined on a first come first serve basis. If two siblings register at the same time, only one fee is charged per family.

Tuition is a yearly fee of $1449.00, payable in 9 equal monthly payments of $161, due on the child’s first day of school each month. Please pay by sending a check or cash in a sealed envelope. Send it in your child's folder. Your child's teacher will check that tuition has been received by filling out the space provided in your child's folder. Delinquency in payment could result in removal from the program. An automatic charge of $15 will be made to your account for each returned check. In the event a family elects to withdraw a child from the program, a 2-week notice (and 2 weeks of tuition) is requested to provide time for the director to contact parents of children on the waiting list and fill the vacancy. There is a $15 late fee for tuition received after the 8th of each month. An annual supply fee of $35 needs to be paid with first months tuition.

Volunteers

Providence Preschool depends greatly on our parent volunteers.  Please consider how you can help our children and teachers by participating in fundraisers, class parties, being a room mom, and other events put on during the course of the school year. Information will go out in the Preschool monthly newsletter when volunteers are needed.  So, keep your eyes open for ways you can help.  Thank you in advance for your help.

Babies and two's classes
Babies and two year old classes have a 1 day (WED), 2 day (TUE/THUR), or 3 day (TUE/WED/THUR) option. Students that come 1 or 2 days a week pay $17 a day.  If the Preschool is closed because of cancellation or holidays, payment for the day is not needed.  If your child is sick or is unable to attend MMO on one of the days he/she normally attends, payment is still required.  If you would like your child to participate in field trips that is not on the regular day(s) he/she attends, please notify the Preschool.

Age/ Placement
The Providence Preschool and Mother’s Morning Out Program is for children and infants through 4 years of age. Students must have had their birthday on or before September 1st to be placed in their age-based class. We realize each child presents a unique set of needs: therefore, changes will be made with the approval of the parent and the teacher. Children entering the 3 year old program must be potty trained.

Potty Training

Potty trainings is such a big milestone for toddlers.  When you are ready as a parent to begin the potty training process with your child, we are here to help.  Our teachers in the two year old classes are wonderful in assisting in this way.  We ask that parents send disposable training pants and a change of clothes with their child daily.  We ask that no cloth diapers be sent or plastic training pants.  We have noticed from experience that disposable diapers and pull-ups are the most efficient and sanitary way to potty train your little one.

Nutrition

Please send a nutritious lunch with your child each day.  We will notify you if we are having lunch provided for your child because of a class party or any other special occasion.

Health Policy

Please keep your child home from school if he/she is not feeling well. If your child becomes ill while at school, you will be notified and be asked to pick up your child from the Preschool early.

Please keep your child home if he/she has any of the following symptoms:

Fever

Diarrhea or vomiting

Rash or Impetigo

Discharge from eye(s)

yellow/green drainage from nose

Difficulty breathing

Head lice

Biting Policy:

We want to insure that every child is safe while in our care. Our program provides an environment that encourages and promotes cooperative interaction, respect for others, and non-aggressive problem solving between the children. Biting is a normal stage of development for young children who are teething and are still developing their language skills. It is usually a temporary condition that is most common between thirteen and twenty-four months of age. This means that is a particular concern for the staff in the Toddler/Young 2’s Room.

For safety and health concerns, we take biting seriously. When it happens, it’s very scary, frustrating, and stressful for children, parents, and teachers. It is also not something to blame on children, parents, or teachers, and there are no quick and easy solutions to it. Children bite for a variety of reasons: simple sensory exploration, panic, crowding, seeking to be noticed, or intense desire for a toy. Repeated biting becomes a pattern of learned behavior that is often hard to extinguish because it does achieve results: the desired toy, excitement, attention. Knowing that the effect of their biting will hurt another person is not yet a part of a child of this ages’ mindset, so the “cause-effect” relationship is not internalized. Our teachers plan activities and supervise carefully in order for biting not to happen. There are times, however, when everyone cannot be within immediate reach to prevent a bite.

We try to make every effort to extinguish the behavior quickly and to balance our commitment to the family of the biting child to that of other families. Only after we feel we have made every effort to make the program work for the biting child do we consider asking a family to withdraw the child.
